Jackson Gallagher is a student lighting and media designer attending The Carnegie Mellon University School of Drama, with an expected graduation date of May, 2014. He has done technical theatre work for over ten years, including lighting and media design for professional, community and high school theatre programs.

Jackson is the resident lighting designer with the Encore Theatre Company, a local theatre company based in Dayton, Ohio, that presents new and rarely produced musicals at various levels of development.

As a student at Centerville High School, Jackson did lighting design for eight school theatrical productions, seven dance concerts, as well as musical concerts and many other events. His lighting designs won four high school Daytony awards (Dayton-area awards for excellence in local theatre, as judged by peers). He was an active member of the International Thespian Society and won Critic's Choice for Lighting Design at the Ohio State Thespian Conference in 2009 and 2010, and at the International Thespian Conference in 2010 (the highest distinction for lighting design at the international level). He was awarded Thespian scholarships at the state and international levels in 2010.

Jackson has been a student member of the United States Institute for Theatre Technology (USITT) since 2008. He attended USITT's 2009, 2010 and 2011 national conferences.
